Academics & accreditation

Curricula and accreditation
Our programmes meet local requirements while drawing on global frameworks that raise the quality of learning and the effectiveness of the school.
Accreditations and partnerships are not badges. They shape how we plan, how clear our standards are, how teaching improves, how school leaders develop and, above all, what students achieve.
We treat the curriculum as a framework for growth rather than content to cover. It is supported by enrichment programmes, applied tasks, projects, practical experiences and varied assessment, so students move from memorising to understanding, from receiving to participating, and from knowledge to application.
Curricula include the accredited American curriculum (Savvas, Pingu's English and STEM) on the international track, the Ministry of Education curriculum with enrichment on the national track, the special education curriculum under Ministry supervision, and the Finnish curriculum at Al Malqa and Al Narjis.

Our teaching philosophy
Education is not the transfer of knowledge. It is the development of a student's character, skills, thinking, communication and decision-making, and of the confidence to keep learning independently.
Students learn best when they are active, aware of their goals, engaged in dialogue, able to connect knowledge with practice, and supported by a safe, motivating environment with high expectations.
So our model balances academic excellence, character building and future skills, grounded in Islamic and national values and open to the best global practice. You'll see it in our classrooms, our assessment, our support programmes, our pathways of excellence and our partnership with families.

How Rowad Al Khaleej students learn
Teaching goes beyond instruction to deep understanding, active participation and practical application.
Student-centred
Teachers lead structured experiences where students research, discuss, analyse, experiment and solve problems.
Differentiated
Activities provide different levels of support and challenge for each student's level, needs and abilities.
Project and inquiry based
Students learn by investigating real questions and building real things.
Data-driven
Evidence of learning guides what teachers do next. Students know what they learn, why, and how to use it.
Assessment and growth
We measure growth over time, not just final grades.
Our assessment system runs through the year: continuous classroom assessment, end-of-term summative exams, diagnostic and benchmark assessments, national assessments, centralised exams and standardised growth measures such as MAP, alongside indicators of academic readiness for specific tracks.
The result is an accurate picture of each student's level, strengths, areas to improve and progress, so decisions are based on evidence rather than impressions.
We use the results to
- Determine each student's level accurately
- Build intervention and enrichment plans
- Help teachers adjust their teaching strategies
- Give families a clearer picture of progress
- Improve academic planning across the school
Assessment is part of improvement, not just a final judgement.
Support when students need it
Differences between students are natural. A good school is measured not only by its high achievers, but by how well it supports students who need more time, clearer intervention or closer follow-up.
Our support is based on continuous assessment and includes re-teaching, small-group instruction, individual plans, regular follow-up, coordination between teachers and supervisors, and communication with families. We monitor every intervention and adjust it as needed, and support extends to organisational, motivational and study skills too.
Learners with diverse needs
Educational equity doesn't mean treating everyone the same. It means giving each student the support they need.
We offer differentiated instruction, individual plans, specialised academic support, coordination between specialists and teachers, and ongoing follow-up with families, always in a way that protects the student's dignity, builds confidence and supports inclusion.
